Music Provision Music lessons are a regular feature of the school curriculum for all pupils from Reception to Year 7. Pupils in Year 4 learn to play the recorder and tuition in a range of musical instruments including violin, flute, clarinet and saxophone is also available. Instrumentalists have an opportunity to play as part of an instrumental music group. Homework We encourage some homework from early on and parents may help by establishing a routine homework pattern. In Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 parents may help with reading activities, counting games or by reading to their children. It is important to remember that children enjoy hearing a book several times. In Year 4 pupils will have written homework as well as reading. We suggest that the homework is done after children have had a break but before they become too tired. From Year 5 - Year 7 children will have more homework but we feel they should spend no longer than 30-45 minutes on it. Homework time should be a time of sharing work and should not create conflict between parent and child. A homework policy giving further details of homework is available for parents' guidance. | Extra-curricular Activities A comprehensive and varied programme of clubs and societies is on offer to cater for the pupils’ many interests. During the year 2007-2008 pupils will be able to choose from: Badminton Choir Computer Club Creative Music Cricket Cycling Proficiency Drama & Dance Elocution Football Golf Hockey Mini Rugby Multi-Skills Netball Orchestra Scripture Union Tennis |
